Olympics of Stamping...THANK YOU

I decided to be brave and try entering Cath's Olympics of Stamping contest over on the Moxie Fab World blog. So intimidated, because everything I see over there is just so fabulous, but what the heck!? I'm going to give it a go! :) This is my THANK YOU entry for a 'mostly stamped' card. I wasn't sure what 'mostly stamped' entailed, so I went with more stamping rather than less...

Stamps: Pocket Full of Posies (Technique Tuesday); Big & Bold Wishes, Background Basics: Text Style (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Pure Poppy, Terracotta Tile, Orange Zest, Lemon Tart, Chai, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink); Antique Linen (Ranger)

Mrs. and Mrs. Cupcake Challenge

Another fabulous Cupcake Challenge (#47 to be exact) over at the Hope Stamps Eternal blog. I love the soft sweetness of these pale, pretty and crafty with all those buttons and spools.

I chose to use similar colours for my card and the flower that I created is my attempt at mimicking the 'swirls' of the cupcake icing. And of course, a button to finish it off.

I used my 1" circle punch to cut out the cardstock circles and a Super Jumbo scalloped circle punch (the blue one from Marvy) for the base. I added Scor Tape all around the base, and then started sticking the circles on, slightly bending them upwards. I did this until the circles covered the base entirely, then used a glue dot to hold the button in place. My final touch was adding a bit of ink to the edges of the circle for a vintage look.

Stamps: Big & Bold Wishes (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Sweet Blush, Chamomile (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Kraft, Vintage Cream, Sweet Blush, Spring Rain (Papertrey Ink); other (Bazzil)
Other: Button (misc.); scalloped circle punch (Marvy); 1" circle punch (EK Success)

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop night!!

This is one of my favourite nights of the month!! Other than 'date night' with my husband of course... :) This month's theme for Papertrey Ink's Blog Hop is Design Team Appreciation- essentially, recreating a favourite card or project that one of the talented design team members has done.

WELL- holy moly! Was it ever hard to pick just ONE!!! I bet you all had the same problem! In the end I decided to go with Lisa Johnson's beautiful 'Button Bike' card from the July 2009 release. This is her original card on the right, and my version below on the left.

I kept the same layout and all the 'elements' are still there. I used Blooming Button Bits instead of Everyday Button Bits, a different polka dot pattern from Polka Dot Basics, different designer paper and colour scheme.

I like how it turned out! Very soft and feminine...thanks for the wonderful inspiration Lisa!!

Stamps: Blooming Button Bits, Polka Dot Basics
Ink: Chamomile, Lavender Moon, Ocean Tides
Paper: Stamper's Select White, Aqua Mist, Lavender Moon, Kraft, Pretty Pastels designer paper
Other: Aqua Mist ribbon; clear buttons (misc.); twine (misc.); scalloped border punch (SU!); corner rounder (Marvy); foam dimensionals (misc.)

Happiness is...

Oh yes, a new pair of shoes. :) Lots of paper piecing here with this MFT set called Window Shopping. I think the Basic Grey Origins paper is 'off' for this card, maybe a little too pretty and serene for something as funky as shoes. Still though, it's gorgeous paper and I've already bought the card AND scrapbook kit that are a part of that whole line. I think this is one of my favourite Basic Grey lines ever! For the circle outline I used Take Note by Papertrey Ink, and I covered the shoe with Diamond Glaze after colouring it with Copics. Enjoy your day everyone! Stay tuned for a later post today regarding Papertrey Ink's blog hop.

Stamps: Window Shopping (My Favorite Things); Take Note (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Copic markers, *mint* Spica Glitter marker (Copic); Chai, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); Origins (Basic Grey)
Other: Scalloped circle punch (Marvy); Diamond Glaze

Lucky Me

This card was inspired by the talented Kim Hughes. I used finer glitter, a different sentiment, and a pre-made shamrock, but kept the bold colours, contrasting black for the sentiment and the use of Scor-Tape. Kim always has the greatest ideas and I'm so glad I stumbled across her original card (can't find where it is on her blog though, sorry!) so I could find another fabulous way to use Scor-Tape!!

Stamps: Fresh Alphabet (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Paper: Stamper's Select white (Papertrey Ink)
Other: 1/8" and 1/4" Scor Tape (Scor Pal); glitter (Doodlebug); shamrock (Michael's)

A classic...

Oh how I wish I had a new card to show you!! I have lots laying around and I promise tonight I will drag out my light box and snap away so I have some new stuff to show you in the next few days. This was for my father-in-law's birthday a looong time ago. He is a bit of a 'classic' himself...haha, or so I like to tease him! :) I just LOVE that backgrounder stamp from Cornish Heritage Farm! I searched forever and ever on SCS to find images of this truck stamp so I could see who made it...I had stamped the image from one of my mom's stamps and never bothered to write down who made it.

Olympic love!

Ahhh, did you watch the Opening Ceremonies last night?? I am a proud Canadian!! What a beautiful job was done, and I'm so excited to see how all the athletes do!

I seem to always forget about using my punches for focal points, and rely on stamped images to do the work for me. :) This time I left that all behind and used a simple punched heart central image. Of course though, I had to pull out Simple Valentine and use that cute little sweetheart sentiment. I just love the font used and how small the words fave Valentine's set by far! And yes, I do realize that the ribbon is positioned so the word LOVE is upside down. :) Oops. That gorgeous sparkly label holder I bought in a package of 3 from the Paper Pickle and I'm surprised I used it because usually I hoard that kind of pretty stuff!

Stamps: Simple Valentine (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Chai, Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Dark Chocolate, Stamper's Select White (Papertrey Ink); Love Bandit collection (Bo Bunny)
Other: Label holder, stick pin, ribbon (Making Memories); pure poppy button (Papertrey Ink); double scalloped punch (Martha Stewart); heart punch (EK Success); Nestabilities (Spellbinders)

A little bird told me...

This was a very simple card to make in little time and I love the end result! It was for my mother-in-law's recent birthday (she won't tell us her age) and she had a good laugh when opening it up, as a bird had flown into her house earlier that afternoon when she opened her door- causing a quite a ruckus!! :) Very coincidental!

Details: I stamped the leaf pattern in Aqua Mist on the Basic Grey paper and added the sentiment and bird in Dark Chocolate ink over top. I stamped the bird a second time on scrap designer paper paper, cut out the wing and adhered it, covering it with Stickles. After inking the edges and adding a GORGEOUS brad from the Nook and Pantry collection I glued it all down to the main panel.

Stamps: Turning a New Leaf (Papertrey Ink); sentiment (Amuse); bird (Mocha Chica by Kim Hughes for CHF)
Ink: Aqua Mist, Dark Chocolate, Chai (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Nook and Pantry collection (Basic Grey)
Other: Stickles (Ranger); brad (Basic Grey)
