Take Note!

You know when you're out and about somewhere and see an advertisement for a cool looking website- OR one of your friends tells you about their new blog while you're out for dinner and for the life of you, you can't remember it once you get home!?

One of my friends asked me to make her 'one of those notebook thingys' (her words) to keep track of such things; something she can keep in her purse right handy...so here's what I came up with!

Stamps: Take Note
Ink: Aqua Mist, Dark Chocolate, Chamomile
Paper: Vintage Cream, Library Ledger designer papers
Other: Aqua Mist buttons, twine; Scalloped Circle punch (Marvy); border punch (Martha Stewart)

Dot Spot birthday

My little brother will be 25 tomorrow and so I pulled out all my man-ish supplies to make a card for him. Why are masculine cards so hard to make!? I'm not sure if this is the final one I'll give him but I like the way it turned out anyway! Pretty simple to put together with all those fabulous Papertrey Ink supplies!

Supplies: (ALL Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted)
Stamps: Dot Spot, Enjoy the Ride
Ink: Dark Chocolate; Antique Linen (Ranger)
Paper: Kraft, Library Ledger designer paper
Other: Aqua Mist button, twine

Everything is pretty self-explanatory on this card...stamp, punch, ink edges, adhere! :) Gotta love how easy that is!

Lucky me, a weekend where I don't have to work, AND my handsome husband is not travelling here, there or ANYWHERE, so hopefully we will have some quality family time together. OR- he will watch the kids while I make cards. :) :)

Paper: Sunflowers Light (Bazzill); designer paper (Unknown); Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink)

A sketchy challenge...

Team Style is here to bring you another fabulous challenge from Some Odd Girl digital stamps. My fave kind of challenge- a SKETCH! Oooooo I looooove sketches!! :)

So there it is, nothing tooooo complicated and lots of wiggle room to get creative! Feel free to use any image you like BUT if you use a Some Odd Girl digi then you get TWO entries in the challenge. Of course, there is always a freebie for you to download and play with so you can play along...Link up your entries by Sept. 8th at midnight to qualify.

So now, run on over the challenge blog to check out the rest of the design team's gorgeous creations AND to see if maybe YOUR card won the last challenge- ribbons and rubons! Didn't enter? Oh. Hm, well, that's okay- there is always this time around!!

Here's my sample- I'm pretty sure you can see the sketch in there!! I used the ever-cute Fluffy Love paired with a sentiment from My Favorite Things. So bright, bold and loveable isn't it!?

Tea for Two

Ahhhh nothing beats a good ol' cuppa coffee...or tea in this case. In fact, even better is sharing it with friends. That's what I'm going to be doing this morning- having coffee/tea with my two closest girlfriends (and their beautiful children) at my house. I've known these ladies since BEFORE kindergarten!!! So seriously, when it comes to knowing someone well...there are no secrets between the three of us!! How fabulous is it to have lasting friendships like that?!

As for the card- I accordion folded the patterned paper and flattened it (I punched a scrap paper circle and covered it with strong adhesive so the folded paper would adhere to it and stay 'stuck'). Other than that, it's pretty explanatory...now why didn't I make TWO of these- one for EACH of my girlfriends!? :)

Stamps: Tea for Two (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Chamomile (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink): Wishful Thinking papers (Fancy Pants Designs)
Other: Tea pot die (Papertrey Ink); label die (Spellbinders); stick pink (Fancy Pants Designs); Scarlet Jewel and Spring Moss button, twine (Papertrey Ink)

Wishing you rainbows and sunshine!

Bright, bold and guaranteed to make someones day! Well, that was the point... :) This CAS (clean and simple) card took only minutes to make and can be recreated in any colour combo you want- how great is that?!

Up, Up & Away is one of my favourite sets from Papertrey Ink- so cute, fun and fresh. I hand cut the clouds and added sparkle around the edges with my Stickles. My Copic markers were used to colour the rainbow in different shades of pink. A swipe of Fresh Snow ink around the edges and voila! Done...easy peasy!

Supplies: (all Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted)
Stamps: Up, Up & Away, Up, Up & Away Sentiments

Happy 50th!

I am soooo happy with how this card turned out. A friend requested a 50th wedding anniversary card and knowing that gold is the usual colour of choice for such an occasion I wanted to create something along those lines without using out and out GOLD which I think can sometimes be too flashy...so here was my result. :) It's "gold-ish" haha.

The embellishments really do the work here- that fantastic crystal flourish and the gorgeous ribbon...oh my!

Stamps: Round & Round Anniversary set (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Dark Chocolate, Chamomile (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink); designer paper (unknown); Sherbert cardstock (Bazzill)
Other: '50' stickers and ribbon(American Crafts); stick pin (Fancy Pants); crystal swirl (Prima)

Start Each Day with Wheeeee!

Isn't that the cutest sentiment ever? Shouldn't we all start each day with WHEE? ! : ) I just adore this image from My Favorite Things...it reminds me of when I was a little girl, swinging for hours at my grandma and grandpa's house on their olllllld swing set. (Just so you know, I CANNOT find this image on the site at all, maybe it's retired already??)

For this card, I cut apart the sentiment so it would fit where I wanted it to and inked the edges for added 'pop'. The cute scalloped borders are cardstock stickers from Echo Park.

Stamps: Start Each Day with Whee (My Favorite Things)
Ink: Copics; Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Hibiscus Burst (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: New Leaf, Harvest Gold, Orange Zest, Stamper's Select White (Papertrey Ink); Sweet Summertime (Echo Park)

A pink bundle of JOY!

Awww the excitement of a new baby- that sweet smell (most of the time), the way their little fingers grasp yours so tightly, how they only stop crying when mom comes in to rescue them from their dark, scary crib. Happy memories for me! I loved my wee ones during that stage of their lives, but I can honestly say I DON'T miss the up all night factor, the constant crying and the spit up everywhere. :)

A neighbour of mine whom I have known my entire life is expecting her first baby (a girl) in just a few weeks- how exciting for her and her husband! I made this card in anticipation for the newest little arrival in our small town.

Stamps: Baby Button Bits (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Chai, True Black (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); pink cardstock (Bazzil); Wishful Thinking papers (Fancy Pants Designs)
Other: ribbon (misc.); Fillable Frame #4, button, twine (Papertrey Ink); Open Scallop Border (My Favorite Things)

Happily Ever After

Isn't that the kind of ending every story should have? :) Probably the kind most brides wish for on their wedding day- and therefore a perfect sentiment for a wedding card! I love the cream on cream look here; very serene, elegant and tasteful. (Er, I hope!)
Stamps: sentiment (Inkadinkado)
Ink: Cement (Tsukineko)
Paper: Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); cardstock (Bazzil)
Other: Flower (Prima); ribbon (misc.); tag (Spellbinders); Cuttlebug embossing folder (Provo Craft)

Masculine mania

Masculine cards...I think a lot of us struggle with these...me especially! Whenever I start creating a card for a man's birthday, etc. I always have grand plans, and they usually fall short. I feel like they are always left looking a little plain and bare. Well, I'm not going to stop trying; I WILL master the masculine card! :)

Here are 2 samples of my latest creations for da' boys.

The first one is bold and spotty (Dot Spot anyone!?) with a splash of red. The border around the white text box is hand drawn with a marker.
The next card is a little more subtle with it's nature themed background pattern and softer, natural colours. I stamped the compass image from Father Knows Best on the label and the sentiment over top.

Supplies: (All Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted)
Stamps: Dot Spot, CHA 2010 set
Ink: True Black, Pure Poppy; Marker (Zig)
Paper: Smokey Shadow, Stamper's Select White
Other: staples (Making Memories); ribbon (misc.)
Stamps: Father Knows Best; backgrounder (Cornish Heritage Farms)
Ink: Simply Chartreuse, Dark Chocolate, Chamomile
Paper: Simply Chartreuse, Dark Chocolate, Rustic Cream
Other: Ribbon (misc.); Nestabilities (Spellbinders); staples (Making Memories)

This GROOVY card was made for the Signs of Peace challenge over on the Moxie Fab World blog. You can still play along until midnight MDT on August 16!

I made this card using my first ever Taylored Expressions stamp set, Feelin' Groovy...and methinks I'll be buying LOTS more. :) I used a variety of stamps in the set to create my background, and then just used plain ol' black ink for the focal point- a wonderful PEACE SIGN! The black border around the edges was hand drawn. Peace out folks.

Ink: Hawaiian Shores, Simply Chartreuse, Pure Poppy, Lemon Tart, True Black (Papertrey Ink); black marker (Zig)
Paper: Stamper's Select White (Papertrey Ink)

If you can imagine it!

What a great sentiment for a graduation card, or for someone who needs a little inspiration and motivation! Unity Stamp Company always has the loveliest sentiments. Paired with some Webster's Pages designer paper, this card would suit anyone needing a lift! This card is for UAC12 over at SCS. A "mood" challenge- and my mood while creating this was "optimism"!

I stamped the sentiment right on the designer paper, and inked all edges using Fresh Snow ink. I punched out the circle and only used half- using the brad to draw the image and circle together.

Stamps: The Artist in You (Unity Stamp Company)
Ink: Fresh Snow, Scarlet Jewel (PTI)
Paper: Scarlet Jewel (PTI); Garden Gala papers (Webster's Pages)
Other: brad (Bo Bunny)

Something old, something blue...Baby?!

I love when I dig through my stash and find something realllly old that I have forgotten about but can be used on a card! That laundry line sticker was from before my son Jake was born- and he's almost 4 now! Well, I guess there's a reason to hold on to some things! :) Unfortunately, I have no idea what company made it, but isn't it cute?!

Paper: Spring Rain, Spring Moss, Stamper's Select White

Speaking of my almost 4 year old little buddy...here's Jake on the beach at our recent cottage vacation- isn't he just too cute!? :)

To the world...

The soft, pretty designs and colours of the Wishing Thinking line by Fancy Pants caught my eye a few weeks ago while browsing through my LSS, and I couldn't help but buy up the entire collection! I especially love the banner paper- which I hand cut out for this card.

I submitted this for publication but was rejected (no big deal, I'm sure it will happen a MILLION more times before something gets accepted!) so now I'm showing it here on the blog. :) I love the thrill of sending a card in and waiting in anticipation to here back if it was accepted or not...I'll never tire of that excitement- even if they don't ever say yes...it's all in the fun of creating!!

The good news is though...I WAS accepted for publication in the July 2010 online issue of Scrapbook News and Review magazine!!! (not for this card shown) Go check it out! I'm the Oh, Boy section under Cards. :)

CHA madness!

I'm home sweet home from CHA- and oh how much fun I had!! All the fun of meeting new people, taking a Copic class, getting to see Kristy, doing lots of make and takes, and of course, shopping!! Do you see that picture to the right...?? Hehehe...that's what I bought! :) Hm, let's see what is in that pile

So yes, I had lots of fun, bought lots of great stuff and even had my picture taken with some of my faves- Nichole Heady, Cath Edvalson and the head Odd Girl herself- Kristy!
