Birthday Boy

My son has a lot of little boys in his kindergarten class this year, so I'm stocking up on child/boy friendly birthday cards.  Luckily, the adorable Little Boy collection from Echo Park (a 2010 collection that for some reason I hadn't really cracked into until now) makes it easy to do! By using patterned papers, the journalling cards and the stickers, I've easily put together a simple, cute card. I love paper collections for this very fact!

Stamps: Birthday Greetings (Hero Arts); Enjoy the Ride (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: White (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Little Boy collection (Echo Park)
Other: Stickers, die cuts (Echo Park); Scalloped circle punch (Marvy)

Happy Hambo Hoedown !!

Welcome to another Hambo Hoedown, and sadly, my last... This is the last challenge for us Bacon Bits on the current team, but I am so excited (and I'm sure you are too) to see what the new team will come up with!! This was a friendly, fun, welcoming and organized team to work for/with and I really, truly enjoyed myself!!
The challenge put to us on the team this week was to CASE a card from the Hambo gallery and use the Dragonfly-digi as our image.
I chose to CASE my card from the BUG gallery, and picked a card by none other than the Hambo Design Team coordinator herself, the talented Judy Rozema herself!!! :) :) I'm not sucking up at all... hehe.
Now head on over to the challenge blog and see what the rest of the design team members have come up with for their last challenge...sniff sniff. :( Don't worry, I'm SURE we'll all be playing along the in weekly Hoedown from now on!

Cardstock: True Black, white (Papertrey Ink)

Welcome baby girl!

I love that the Papertrey Ink Shape Up series of dies can be used on it's own as a card, or made to fit on an A2 card base.  I personally like them cut out on a card base because it gives me more patterned paper possibilities. :) And I LOVE my patterned paper!

Stamps: Bitty Baby Blessings (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Copic marker
Paper: Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); Sweet Threads collection (Basic Grey)
Other: Rectangle, Scalloped Rectangle punch (Marvy); button, twine, onesie die (Papertrey Ink); Stickles (Ranger)

Happy Hoedown with Operation Write Home

It's Wednesday, so that means welcome to another fabulous Hambo Hoedown! This week Hambo is partnering with Operation Write Home, and all of our creations follow the guidelines there. Check out what the rest of the design team has created, and read the challenge rules carefully, because if you play along according to the rules you can win next week's digi!

After checking out the rest of the team, you might notice I'm not using the Pig Sub digi...uh ohhhh.  My printer broke before I had the chance to print it off (that darn cardstock takes its toll on printers after awhile...) but I had this cute Heart Basket digi already printed off from before so I used it instead.  Look for that Pig Sub later this week when I finally get my new printer.  It's on order AND handles cardstock very well apparently...(it better!!)

Stamps: Heart Basket digi (Hambo)
Ink: Copic markers
Paper: Soft Stone, white (Papertrey Ink); Happily Lost collection (Lily Bee Designs)
Other: pearls (Kaisercraft); Nestabilities (Spellbinders); heart punch (EK Success); foam dimensionals

Sing Your Art Out!!

Welcome to "Sing Your Art Out" sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today Hambo friends, customers, and the Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict song titles! It might be our favorite song, or just one that was fun to design.

If you arrived here from Paige you are in the right place! If not, you might want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog to make sure you are eligible for the hopper prize!

A prize will be awarded to one participant whose song-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy in a singin' wingin' way! Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all the blogs along the hop. The winners will be announced on the Hoedown blog, as well as on the Hambo company blog, Talk to the Ham, on Wednesday, September 21. OH, and did you know you can follow Hambo on Twitter now at @HamboStamps?! Coooool!!!

I chose the song "Landing in London" by 3 Doors Down (featuring Bob Seger) and chose to give my card a 'missing you' theme. The song is pretty melancholy and lonesome (hopefully my card isn't as sad looking, haha), but has a gorgeous melody and I looooove Bob Seger! :)  You can hear the song on You Tube here.  A sample of the lyrics are:

I woke up today in London
As the plane was touching down
And all I could think about was Monday
Maybe I'd be back around

I used the Skyline image (it's BIG!) and coloured it in with Copic markers.  I decided to make the card a WHOLE lot cheerier than the song is; doom and gloom and Hambo just don't mix!! :) See that lonely one single light left on? Maybe that person is waiting up for their loved one to come home... :)

Now it's time to warm up those vocal chords and be prepared to sing! Now hop on over to Leslie for another great sing-along song!

This is very much a lack-of-mojo-so-i-borrowed-someone-else's-idea kind of card. :) It's OK as long as you admit it!!  Isn't that what this industry and hobby is about? Inspiring others, being inspired by others? :) The basic layout/sketch came from the Card Ideas for Paper Crafters magazine and I just love how easy it is to do so many different colour combinations with this particular stamp set! I stamped the pieces of the doilies in different colours off the side of the cardstock, added lots of glitter and matted it on a few layers of cardstock.  Verrrry pretty in real life if I do say so myself!!

Stamps: Love Lives Here, Delightful Doilies (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Turquoise Gem, Night Sky, Mango Madness, Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: White (Papertrey Ink); Ocean Mist (Gina K Designs); Deep Blue dotted swiss (Bazzil)
Other: gem (Zva); Stickles (Ranger)

Card Play congrats

Two birdies in love? How cute can that be?! I made this card for the Card Play Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and can't wait to pass it along to a happy couple somewhere out there. :)  I used a playing card die cut from the Fancy Pants It's the Little Things collection as my center image and added glitter to the little hearts in the corners.  Papers and other die cuts are from the same collection, and that big, beautiful sentiment is from the Congrats All Ways set by Papertrey Ink.

Stamps: Congrats All Ways (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: Rustic Cream, True Black (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: It's the Little Things collection (Fancy Pants Designs)
Other: playing card and flower die cuts (Fancy Pants); Stickles (Ranger); foam dimensionals

Twin boys! How exciting! How...BUSY this lady is going to be!! A friend needed a twin baby boys card, and this is what I came up with.  I paper pieced the onesie from the Bitty Baby Blessings set, and stamped the cute little sailboat in the middle.  The Seaside papers by October Afternoon were a perfect compliment to a BOY-ish card. :) Have a great weekend everyone!

Stamp: Bitty Baby Blessings (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: True Black, Chamomile (Papertrey Ink); Copic marker
Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Seaside collection (October Afternoon)
Other: button, twine (Papertrey Ink); Scalloped border punch (SU!)

Happy 1st birthday

I made this sweet birthday card for a delightful little one year old girl that belongs to a close friend of mine. This sweetie has sparkly eyes and a personality to match- just like her wonderful mother's! Happily, this actually got through the mail in time to arrive on the actual day of her birthday so I considered that a 'win' for once on my part!! :)

I just love that the cupcake die from Papertrey Ink can either stand alone as its own card, or fit onto an A2 size cardstock base. That really opens up the possibilities for cute birthday cards, and lots of other occasions as well.

Stamps: Big Birthday Wishes (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: Soft Stone, Raspberry Fizz (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Sweet Threads collection (Basic Grey)
Other: gems (Kaisercraft); scalloped circle punch (Marvy); By the Numbers, Cupcake dies (Papertrey Ink)

Welcoming Autumn to the Hoedown!

Welcome and happy Wednesday to you all! Wednesday means Hambo Hoedown time, and I'm thrilled to show you my card using Flowers and some beautiful autumn colours!  That's the challenge for this week- show us your project using a Hambo image and fall colours and link it up over at the Hoedown blog.  Read the rules carefully because you can score a free digital image by playing along according to the rules!  Head on over there to check out what the rest of the design team created...

I coloured up my flowers with Copic markers, adding white gel pen here and there, then cut them out and popped a few up along in a border.  That sentiment is from an Imaginisce rub-on from last year's Apple Cider collection.

Stamps: Flower-digi (Hambo)
Ink: Copic markers; white gel pen
Cardstock: Scarlet Jewel, Orange Zest, Dark Chocolate, Kraft, white (Papertrey Ink)
Other: Linen & Canvas impression plate (Papertrey Ink); 'Welcome Autumn' rub-on sentiment (Imaginisce); gems (Zva)

ATU39- Three Way!

Welcome to another All Things Unity challenge.  This time for ATU#39 we are asking you to use THREE things on your card- one stamp, one sticker/rub-on, and one embellishment.  Are you up for that challenge?  Head on over to the All Things Unity blog and see what the other design team members came up with!  There you can check out the rules for playing along, the most important being that your creation MUST have a Unity or Ippity stamp!

My sample uses You Are... (from Unity of course!), a sticker from the Apple Jack collection by Sassafrass and my embellishment is that fabulous badge from American Crafts. To keep the description simple, let's just say there are things popped up, punched out and stuck on. :)

Stamp: You Are... (Unity Stamp Co.)
Ink: Lagoon (Versacolor cube by Tsukineko)
Cardstock: Harvest Gold, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Apple Jack collection (Sassafrass)
Other: Sticker (Sassafrass); badge (American Crafts); 1 3/4" circle punch (EK Success); 3/4" circle punch (Marvy); circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders); foam dimensionals

Adoption congrats!

Another cheery adoption card that a friend requested.  Gender neutral, fresh and fun! I used a LOT of Papertrey Ink products on this card...4 different stamp sets!  I love the look of a tag on a card, so that was my focal point to hold the sentiment; the balloons are for added cheer and goodwill. :)

It's almost back to school today for a new backpack, shoes and clothes.  My son seems to have grown 3 inches over the summer and desperately needed some new shirts and pants.  Luckily everything we found had a monster truck or construction theme so he was happy to try stuff on...I bet that good attitude won't last for long the older he gets.

Stamps: Background Basics: Newsprint; Congrats All Ways, Up Up & Away, Everyday Button Bits
Ink: Summer Sunrise, True Black, Spring Rain, Chamomile
Cardstock: Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Rustic Cream
Other: Buttons, Tag Sale #1 die; Jumbo Ric Rac die (My Favorite Things); twine (The Twinery)
