Happy Spring

It may not quite feel like spring here today, but it really truly is. We've brought our winter coats, hats and mittens out again for one last hurrah, and hopefully it will only last another day or two before we can go back to enjoying lovely sunshiny springtime weather!  To get me more in the springtime mood, I set about creating this Happy Spring card.  I used Paper Smooches Spring Fling set, stamping the image and sentiment three times.  I paper pieced the leaves, and added Flower Soft to the flowers.  I love how fluffy and yellow it is! :)

Bikini weather?

Summer has been on my mind all throughout the winter, and now that it's spring I can slowwwwlllly feel it getting closer and closer to beach weather!! Beach weather makes me think of summer themed cards...and creating something that makes me feel like GOING to the beach! Not that this lady is one to wear a bikini on the beach- not a chance!! :)

I started looking through my dies to see if there was anything I could alter.  I came up with the baby onesie die from Papertrey Ink and thought it would look cute cut apart as a bikini. :) After cutting out the die in white cardstock for the base, I also cut it out in the patterned paper and transparency paper.  I trimmed apart the sections needed from all the papers and glued them to to the white cardstock base. After that I did my stamping and added the other embellishements.  StazOn ink worked perfectly for stamping on the transparency paper as it tried almost instantly and there was no worry about smearing!

Friday Friends with Flair

Friday means Friends with Flair on the Unity blog, so here I am linking my creation up this week! I used a fabulous Stamp of the Week- You Deserve Happy- that paired up nicely with some Glimmer Mist and other doo-dads.  I'm having so much fun creating with these stamps every week, and it is a fun bonus to open the mailbox and have that nice surprise waiting for me! I've been trying NOT to look at the blog post that lets us know what the SOTW is, so that I can truly be surprised. :)

Pretty Tape

I ordered a bunch of washi tapes from Pretty Tape on Etsy a few weeks ago and oh boy am I having fun with them! So simple- just tear and layer on cardstock.  I added a stamped sentiment popped up, and that's all folks. :) A pretty, spring-coloured card for this first day of spring!

Textured thanks

I made this card for a recent call for Paper Crafts magazine and never did get enough time to submit it.  Of course, I left uploading it to the last minute and time got away from me.  I used a variety of natural elements like the canvas flower, the kraft envelope, and the wood grain designed paper. I love the way it turned out! The big flower makes it hard to send through regular mail, but I bet if I fancied up a paper sack to put it in instead and hand delivered it, it would be perfect! By the way, I just LOVE that canvas flower that was so fun to spritz with glimmer mists!!

Spring Birds

Spring is in the air! Spring birds are back; sweet robins in particular, and so I felt like using this Spring Bird sticker by Jolee's Boutique on today's card. It has a cheery, sweet feel to it, with a fun punch of pink. :) I was out gardening yesterday, pulling out dead stuff from my flower beds and raking a bit to get everything nice and clean for when I start planting. I do NOT like to garden, but the end result always looks nice so I give a go every year regardless.

Birthday Boy!

Jake's teacher includes the birthdays of his classmates on the monthly calendar sent home, so I always like to send a card for the birthday kid! I usually pull a few from my stash appropriate for whether it's a boy or girl, and Jake chooses which one he wants to give them.  I think it's great that he can now write his classmate's name on the card and his own; he insists on writing "LOVE, Jake" which I think is cute. :)
This particular card was made using the new Movers & Shakers Sentiments stamp set by Papertrey Ink.  I received it just in time for the new releases to start sneak peeks. Boy oh boy, is shipping to Canada ever expensive AND takes forever.  I'm going to have to figure out some different options.  I want the product, but don't want to pay $$$$$ just to get it here!

On My Mind

What's on YOUR mind lately??  I've been thinking about purging some older supplies that I don't have much interest in using anymore.  I donated a bunch to our library, passed some off to a young girl in the area just starting to scrapbook, and then in an effort to use up the last remaining scraps of a precious paper collection, I pieced together a bunch of paper strips from Basic Grey's Urban Prairie collection for a pretty background piece on this card. I took this picture before I fixed the bulb in my photo booth, so you can see where the light is brighter on the right side...oh well, it's fixed now! Have any of you been busy crafting lately? I've been lucky to fit in an hour here and there the last few days and it always makes me feel so much better. :)

Hey There!!

After cutting out the Rainbow & Cloud die several times for another few cards I created, I had the negative cut-outs left over. Not wanting to waste them, I put them to good use! I trimmed the white cardstock to size and backed it on Blueberry Sky cardstock and added my sentiment and Stickles.  A little Fresh Snow ink swiped around the edges, some gems, and done!

Butterfly Dreams

I adore butterflies so much so that I have 2 butterfly tattoos (done during university years of course, probably not something I'd do now...)!  I couldn't believe when I looked through my supplies that I didn't have a butterfly stamp set at all!  That was easily remedied by walking across the road to my mom's and borrowing one of hers.  Luckily she's in Florida and not using them herself, so she didn't mind, lol. :)
I quickly and easily made this one layer card using different ink colours and layering the sentiment over top.  I added a touch of clear Stickles to the grey butterflies for some pretty sparkle.

Supplies: *all Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted*
Stamps: (Butterfly Dreams, Big & Bold Wishes)
Ink: (True Black, Smokey Shadow, Aqua Mist, Lavender Moon, Summer Sunrise, Hibiscus Burst, Spring Moss)
Cardstock: (white)
Other: (Stickles) Ranger
