Going to school

The administrative assistant at my son's elementary school is taking a new position elsewhere and today is her last day at our school. She is such a kind woman, always with a smile on her face and a pleasant greeting to those who come through the front door.  I wanted to make her a card that wished her well at the new school she is going to.  I used almost entirely October Afternoon products, mixing and matching a few of their collections. The end result was something school-ish and sweet!
Ink: (Spica glitter markers) Copic
Paper: (various papers from Schoolhouse, Cakewalk, Woodland Park collections) October Afternoon
Other: (flower, circle die cuts) October Afternoon; (brad) Making Memories; (Nautical Wheeler doily die cut) Cheery Lynn Designs

Sentiment Signs birthday

It's always fun to crack open a new stamp set and get it inky! I used Sentiment Signs by Papertrey Ink for the first time, and attempted a gradient colour scheme. I stamped everything first, than ran it through my Big Shot machine using the Canvas impression plate.  The end result is a colourful birthday card fit for either gender!
Stamps: (Sentiment Signs, Big Birthday Wishes) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Blueberry Sky, Aqua Mist, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Pure Poppy) Papertrey Ink; (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Paper: (white, Pure Poppy) Papertrey Ink
Other: (button, Canvas impression plate) Papertrey Ink; (twine) The Twinery

FWF-Out of this World!

WOW, I am not even going to mention how LONG it has been since I've blogged...holy moly!!! Let's just say I've been enjoying myself and spending quality time with all those I love. That includes a few birthday celebrations AND a super fun trip to Las Vegas with my husband for an early 10 year wedding anniversary celebration :)
I'm really glad that my first post back after this hiatus is to show this cute card for Friends With Flair over on the Unity blog. I ordered quite a few stamps from Unity a few weeks ago, and am finally getting back into the crafting groove and inking them up.  Most of the them were love/Valentine's related, but I used this particular one on my husband's birthday card.  It's pretty simple, and I bet just by looking at it you can figure out how I made it. :) Enjoy your Friday everyone!

Mr. and Mrs.

Long time, no blog post! Holy moly, did the New Year ever get ahold of me! Busy, busy...and still not much crafting time to be had yet.  I'm crossing my fingers that my time for creating will increase now that my son is back in school and our regular schedule has returned.  I did have the chance to do some card making for an upcoming Paper Crafts magazine call, but I won't be able to show any of it until I find out if it was chosen or not. Cross your fingers it is, but if it isn't that means I get to show you all! :)  Not bad either way!
Here's a wedding card I made to sell at a holiday craft sale I participated in this past December. I used the Big & Bold Wishes sentiment set as my focal point, and elegant paper from Envelopments.
Stamps: (Big & Bold Wishes) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Spice Tin) Jenni Bowlin; (Kraft) Papertrey Ink
Paper: (Vintage Cream) Papertrey Ink; (designer paper) Envelopments

One Little Word

Do you do One Little Word? I started doing it last year for 2012, and my word was ENJOY
I really think it put my year into perspective for me.  It seemed more appropriate than a New Year's resolution and easier to focus on.  I can tell you that my family certainly enjoyed 2012!!  We had so many fun, special family moments together that makes my heart just swell happily thinking about it.  I have no doubt that 2013 will bring more of the same.  Which brings me to my word for 2013...
I had to think about this one...last year's word really jumped right at me and made sense immediately.  This year I had to take some time to think about it, search a bit and I admit, even go online and see what other people had chosen for their own One Little Word! I almost decided on TRY, but GIVE really seemed more 'me'. :)
So this year I am going to give.  Give more, give help, give freely, give thanks, give notice, give creatively...I have more to give and 2013 will be the year I do it!!
