Quilled Birthday

It's always fun to play with new stamps.  Cracking open the package, checking out all the fun designs, thinking about how you can use them, then finally inking them up and stamping to your hearts delight. :) That's what I did with my new Quilled Elegance stamp set, but I don't think I've even begun to do it justice yet! Despite that, I gave it my best effort on this card and am now sharing it with you! Enjoy!

All you need is love

Who doesn't love a freebie?  I especially love digital freebies, because you can size them and print them out to suit your needs.  This text heart was a digital freebie from Designs by Lili on Facebook and more of her work can be found at The Lilypad. I sized it, printed it out and let the ink dry before I coloured it with Copics.  I stamped my sentiment in black, and adhered it to a black card base. Easy peasy!

Sweet Sweet Sunshine

My term on the Cardabilities design team hasn't quite started yet, but that of course will not stop me from playing along with the current sketch anyway! Here's my interpretation of sketch #69 (love that sketch by the way!). I used an impression plate to deboss my cardstock, spritzed it with spray mist, and started added my layers of die cuts and punches.  This is one of those cards that will go in the 'just because' pile. No particular occasion, but good for anything!
Stamps: (Smitten) Mama Elephant
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko; (red marker) Copic; (Spring Rain, Harvest Gold) Papertrey Ink

Birdie Banner

Happy Family Day to everyone in Ontario! We don't have any grand and exciting plans for the day  other than a few board games and perhaps making our own ice cream sundaes for dessert tonight! It also happens to be my 10 year wedding anniversary...but since it's Family Day we are choosing to stay home with the kids rather than go out for dinner with just the two of us.  After all, we DID celebrate in Las Vegas a few weeks ago on our vacation. :)
Here's a simple and generic congratulations card that could be used in a pinch for many occasions.  I think it looks more like a baby shower card, but really you could use it for anything! I debossed the background, stamped the image and coloured it, then paper pieced the banner and stamped the sentiment. Easy!
Stamps: (Birdie Banner) Your Next Stamp
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko; (markers) Copic
Paper: (Lemon Tart cardstock,  Bitty Baby Blessings patterned paper) Papertrey Ink

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to you all!
I'll admit, I am a BIG romantic. I love a good romantic comedy, I'm a sucker for a cheesy proposal, sniff away at heartfelt country songs, get misty-eyed at older couples holding hands, and my heart especially overflows when I see little kids expressing their love for each other (my kids currently want to marry each other- adorable!).
Did I mention I'm married to a NON-romantic?! Bad news for me!  That's why Valentine's Day is important in our household (and I'm sure many other households); it's the one day of the year when a certain husband of mine feels fully comfortable expressing all his love and mushy-gushiness.  Don't get me wrong, he ALWAYS says he loves me, and I KNOW that, but on today of all days, he tries harder to be romantic. :)
So in recognizing that he would not fully appreciate a pink, frilly valentine, I tried to create something a little more masculine for him. :) I die cut a heart from white cardstock and used the negative piece trimmed to fit the front of my card. I sprayed it with Plum Thumb spray mist by Studio Calico, and used a matching button for an accent.  The sentiment was embossed with black embossing powder.
Stamps: (With all My Heart) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Versamark) Tsukineko
Cardstock: (white, True Black) Papertrey Ink
Patterned Paper: (All My Heart from XOXO collection) American Crafts
Other: (Scarlet Jewel button, Limitless Layers Heart die) Papertrey Ink; (twine) The Twinery; (Plum Thumb spray) Studio Calico; (black embossing powder) misc.

Make sure you check back on the 15th and 30th of each month to see the new sketches and then upload your card based on it!

You're Sweet!

I have a small-ish valentine to show you today, made for a small-ish little girly in my life. My sweet Robin is 4 and loves all things pink and pretty.  She is a girly-girl, but don't let that fool you.  I have most definitely found her rolling in mud puddles and stealing her brother's Hot Wheels toys.  A girl after my own heart. :) I usually make a card for each of my kiddos and so this one will be for her.
The cute focal piece is a sticker from Doodlebug Designs, and the sentiment is pieced together from the Piece of Cake stamp set by PTI. The card size is 3.75 x 5".
Stamps: (Piece of Cake) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko; (Raspberry Fizz) Papertrey Ink
Cardstock: (Raspberry Fizz, Sweet Blush) Papertrey Ink
Patterned Paper: (Love Note from XOXO collection) American Crafts
Other: (doily) misc.; (cupcake sticker) Doodlebug Designs

FWF at Unity

Happy Friday to all! It's blustery and cold here in Southwestern Ontario, and the snow is starting to pile up, but by all accounts we don't have it quite as bad as some parts of the province! Regardless, it's a snow day for my son.  What's better than a snow day on a Friday?! Long weekend, woohoo!!
Well, personally I think FWF at Unity is better than a snow day! :)  Here are two cards I created with Valentine's Day in mind. I love using fun and cute stamps for my valentines, and Unity stamps fill that role perfectly.

Card #1 Supplies:
Stamps: (Skip a Beat, Washi this love) Unity Stamp Co.

Patterned Paper: (music notes from Note to Self) Echo Park; (diagonal stripes from On Trend) Crate Paper

Card #2 Supplies:
Stamps: (You give me tiny butterflies) Unity Stamp Co.

Send a Card to a Friend Day

Happy "Send a Card to a Friend Day" everyone! I'm showing you today a few general 'hello, hi, thinking of you' cards that I've created in the last little while and sent out to friends. I love making this type of card because it's perfect to pop in the mail any day of the week to send to someone you're thinking of!
Paper Crafts magazine has a great post with some wonderful inspiration for sending a happy hello to a friend or two. A quick Google search will find you a site or two where you could even send an email greeting if you don't have time to make a card.  Enjoy your day everyone!

Window Cards

Nothing stretches your creativity like a good challenge, and the Moxie Fab World is just the place to go for when you're looking for such a thing! I created this card for the Make a Card with a Window Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. So many possibilities for this one, but I kept it simple by just punching a circle and allowing my sentiment to peek through.  For me, that's as 'window-ish' as I could get. File this challenge away for another day when I'm feeling more adventurous! :) You have until Feb. 4 to link your card up to, so go get creative!
