FWF- Wander

Friday means Friends With Flair at Unity Stamp Co., and I'm linking up again this week.  I used a lovely sentiment from the Delightful Little Things set and paired it with some papers from Crate Paper's Fourteen collection. A final touch was a spritz of Glimmer Mist in Patina to bring out some of the blues in the paper. I'm not sure what you would use this card for...but sometimes I just like making a card that is for no special reason at all. :)

Ink: (Hibiscus Burst, Chamomile) Papertrey Ink
Specialty Ink: (Patina spray mist) Tattered Angels

Today & Always

Here's a pretty wedding card to celebrate a happily married couple! Staz On ink works perfectly for stamping on all kinds of surfaces, but particularly on this great glitter ribbon from American Crafts.  I carefully die cut the ribbon (it's a perfect width for the Streamers die from Paper Smooches) using tape to hold the die in place, then stamped my sentiment on.  I ADORE the handwriting on this set from Mama Elephant...soooooo cute!! Lots of layers popped up with foam dimensionals for some added height.  This is not one you would want to put in the mail!
Stamps: (So Breezy) Mama Elephant
Ink: (Staz On Black, Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko; (Aqua Mist) Papertrey Ink
Cardstock: (Aqua Mist, Sweet Blush, white) Papertrey Ink
Patterned Paper: (aqua dots from Dots & Stripes 6x6 collection) Echo Park
Other: (glitter ribbon) American Crafts; (doily) Martha Stewart; (twine) The Twinery); (button, Mat Stack 4 die) Papertrey Ink; (Streamers die) Paper Smooches

Sweet as Cherries

I'm joining in with the current challenge this week at the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog. It's my first time playing along and I found the challenge SUMMER FRUITS super cute.
I have been loving the Simon Says Stamp store lately.  I'm sure it's been loving me too (or at least my credit card!).  American Crafts products are the focus this week and I just happen to have several collections to choose from. I paired the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan 6x6 collection with a cute stamp from Unity Stamp Co. Paper piecing has long been a favourite technique of mine so that's what I did here to get those cherries looking so pink and sweet!  I actually smudged ink on the top right corner of the card once it was finished, so I took my lesson from the Simon Says Summer School, and covered it up with pearls. I'm learning lots these days. :)
Cherry Fest takes place in July in a local community here in Southwestern Ontario and our family looooooves to buy up LOTS of fresh, sweet, juicy cherries! Yum!

One moment at a time

I've had more than a few sympathy cards to send out lately unfortunately, so it's helpful to find such a lovely sympathy set like this one from Unity Stamp Co. The images and sentiments are serene, comforting and beautifully designed.  It's definitely a go-to set for these difficult cards to make. I'm linking up to FWF over on the Unity Blog today...enjoy the rest of the creations linked up there.

Floral Thank You

I'm taking inspiration from the lovely Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm collection by American Crafts today! I created this 'thank you' card using inks and floral stamps to compliment the sweet patterned paper.  That gorgeous sentiment from Flourishes is from my new favourite set.  It's always a good idea to have a thank you card or two on hand!

Huge Thanks

Our neighbours host a lovely fishing derby, potluck BBQ and fireworks on the Victoria Day weekend here in Canada and we are always invited.
I popped this card in their mailbox for them as a thank you for inviting us...although we live across the road and probably would have just shown up even if we weren't invited. :)
Surf & Turf by Paper Smooches was the perfect set for a fishing themed card for them!

Sorry about the crazy link above...just 'claiming' my blog on Bloglovin' whatever THAT means. :) Since Google Reader is gone as of July 1, I started using Bloglovin' and am REALLY liking it!

FWF Happy!!

I'm linking up to Friends With Flair today over at the Unity blog with this cute card celebrating an already much loved baby that will join the community soon!
The expectant momma is in my book club, is a friend and in general is an all-round wonderful person and her husband is one of my oldest friends since childhood.
Needless to say, we're all pretty thrilled for them!!
I know the card looks a bit girly, but I threw in some navy blue ink and blue floral papers with a yellow card base to try and keep it gender neutral.  A sweet little gem in one of the hearts tops it off.   Enjoy your Friday everyone!

I went outside the 'box' with this creation, and created a circular card instead of my usual A2 size.
I adore this super fun stamp set by Unity Stamp Co. How fun is it to create supportive cards (pun intended!) for your best girl friends with this cute set? There are a few sentiment options in the set, but this one is my favourite.  Why don't you try paper piecing the undergarments? It's my favourite technique, with so many possibilities!

Heeeeyyyy Sexy Lady!!

Who HASN'T heard that ridiculous (yet catchy!) Gangam Style song?! If not, maybe you have been living under a rock... :) I used this fun sentiment from Mama Elephant on a 30th birthday card for my little sister. I knew the bright yellow, pink and black combo paired with a fun sentiment and sparkly numbers would be something she'd enjoy!
That pretty striped mini bag is from Webster's Pages and I'm glad I finally used one... I bought quite a few because they are just SO lovely and they have been gathering dust. Not anymore! I slid a gift card to one of my sister's favourite clothing stores here in Ontario so hopefully she can treat herself to something pretty!
I'm having a hard time with my sister's recent birthday...if she is 30 what does that make ME?!

i will love the light

When I saw this sentiment by Unity Stamp Co. as part of the Delightful Little Things set I KNEW I had to buy the whole set just for that *one* stamp (it happens a lot in my world, just so you know...). How inspirational is it?! Imagine getting a card with this sentiment during a rough time in your life? Or even as a non-religious sympathy card? I'm keeping this sentiment right out on my desk so I can use it again and again. I'm joining in this week with Unity's Friends with Flair challenge. Head over there to check out the rest of the fun Unity projects linked up (*FWF is not quite showing up yet, so just enjoy the card here for now!)!
The card is very simply made. I just stamped the sentiment and went over the handwritten parts with a pale yellow Spica glitter marker. I spritzed the panel with Shine spray mist before matting it to navy cardstock. The panel was adhered to the card base using foam dimensionals.

Not just for cards!

Need a break from card making? In a stamping slump? All those brads, buttons, gems and other pretty trinkets you have in your stash don't need to be saved for a card!
I created this brooch from a bunch of odds and ends kicking around my desk and put it all together with the help of some hot glue and a pin back from the $ Store.  I simply die cut my favourite flower die from felt and added all my gems and other doodads. There's some twine looped around the back, a nice gold leaf and a stick pin. Imagine this pinned to a cozy sweater, or maybe the lapel of your spring jacket? Lovely!

Making a card for a teenager or preteen is not something I have to do very often, but when the need calls- Modern Chit Chat by Unity Stamp Co. is practically perfect. I love all the cute sayings that you can stamp onto the 'phone screen'.  Paper piecing the phone is super easy, allowing you to customize a fun case for the phone. In fact paper piecing is just plain fun all around. It's one of my favourite techniques to use when stamping because the possibilities are endless! Try it!
I entered this card in the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol 2013 contest and sadly I did not make it to the Top 20, but I had lots of fun looking at all the other entries! There were some AMAZING cards entered!
