Wintertime crafting

It's anoooooother snow day here in Southwestern Ontario and my kids are home yet again driving their parents CrAzY. Since it's also Family Literacy Day here in Ontario we have a bunch of board games to play, recipes to make, and stories to read. In between all that, I'm finding time to happily create away in my crafting corner.

Here's a masculine birthday card that I'm sharing today. As you can see, there is a proper side of the Sketchy Banner die to stamp on border and die didn't *quite* match up. Lesson learned! I tried my hand at a little bit of plaid stamping on this card as well. It was fun, easy and I can't wait to try it again with different color combos.

Stay warm folks and if it's a snow day for your family too then try not to go crazy! :)

My Heart

It's my dear husband's 34th birthday today and of course I wanted to make him a special card to celebrate him. I knew wood grain, cherry wood veneer, and masculine patterned papers were more his 'style' so I tried to combine all that with MY flair for hearts. :)

After die cutting the hearts out of patterned paper and adhering them I applied Glossy Accents over all of the hearts to give it a slick, wet look. I like how that turned out.  That Parade of Hearts die is probably my new favourite die right now. I've used it SO many times lately and I just can't put it away.

This card was 'male' approved this morning when he opened it and it helped there was a gift certificate for his favourite sporting store tucked inside. :) Happy Birthday Jared!

I had yet to pull out and use my new Absolutely edge die from Simon Says Stamp (so many supplies so little time!) so I set out to remedy that... hence the above card!

As usual this started off with one design in mind and then veered wildly off. I *meant* to make a birthday card for my husband but the neon colours were screaming to be paired with the chalk patterned paper and that wouldn't appeal to hubby. This is what resulted instead.  I love how colorful and fun it turned out, and it could be sent out to a friend for any reason at all. There's a touch of Wink of Stella white glitter on some of the dots and I added a little extra 'chalk' look to the sticker by using my Color Box white pigment ink.

Thanks for popping in today folks! Happy Hump Day to you all!

Lots of Love

Unbelievably, I am actually getting a head start on Valentine's Day cards for my family this year rather than leaving it until the last minute! Since my mother is in Florida for a few months I get to raid HER stash for new-to-me stamps for my lovey-dovey crafting. :) She's a big fan of My Favorite Things (as am I) and so I helped myself to a few sets I haven't tried out before and spend the afternoon on Saturday card making.
This was an easy card to put together. I heat embossed flags background with 2 colours of embossing powder, and for the sentiments stamped in black for a subway style look. Thanks for checking it out today!
