CAS(E) this Sketch#94

I'm popping in quick today to share a card I made for CAS(E) this Sketch 94. I love Donna's sketch because it's so open to interpretation. I kept the same orientation and used a stamped flowers to represent the bars underneath the sentiment.

I'm busy helping organize our local school's 50th anniversary so until Saturday I'm pretty much busy, busy, busy! Unfortunately World Cardmaking Day activities will have to wait until next year for me. :(
Thanks for stopping in today and hope to see you back again soon!

Anything Goes!

Happy Thursday friends! It's been a few days but I'm back today with a card for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge- Anything Goes.  I've been busy around here with autumn cleaning- putting all those summer clothes away for yet another year- helping our school plan its 50th anniversary celebrations, getting a fabulous new haircut, but I managed to squeeze some time in to make a few cards too!

I stamped and heat embossed the flowers and leaves from the Summer Garden set in white. Some masking helped me to layer them together across the card. Then I went in with my Peerless Watercolor paints and added some vibrant colours.  I think this is the first 'artsy' (or what I call artsy) card I've made with my watercolors and I really love the result. I think it's proof I just need to have fun and play around with my supplies more. Thanks for stopping in and have a GREAT day!

Funny family story to add: We were talking to our kids about what they'd like to be when they grow up...all this stemming from the school's 50th anniversary coming up...and Jake wants to be an inventor. I have no doubt he'll create something fabulous.  Robin said she wasn't sure what she wanted to be, but she'd probably take her clothes off once she got to work. OH MY GOODNESS. My husband's face was priceless. I really don't know what she meant but we didn't press the issue lol!!

Published work

Happy Monday to you all! It's a delightfully fall-ish day here in Southwestern Ontario so I'm cozied up in my craft corner in a fluffy sweater making cards. :) My happy place!

I have a recently published card to share with you today. Two cards of mine can be found in the pages of Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine October 2014 issue.  The one below used the October sketch as inspiration. I love how it turned out!

CFC- Hanukkah Fri-Dies

Welcome to the last day of CAS-ual Fridays Stamps September release! Today we're showcasing Hanukkah Fri-Dies which coordinates with one of the very first CFS holiday sets, 8 Happy Nights

I made a 4.25" square card and kept it simple with inlaid die cutting and an embossed sentiment. I die cut the star twice, once from the blue cardstock (use some washi tape to hold it in place so it doesn't shift) and once from silver glitter paper, pulled all the pieces apart and then glued it all back together alternating the colours. The white embossing really pops against the blue cardstock!

If you haven't already been there, pop on over to the store blog and see what the rest of the Girl Fridays have come up with. Don't forget to leave a comment over there for a chance to win a prize! All new products are available in the store on Saturday.

Have a GREAT day!

Sleigh Bells and craftroom disasters

Don't be alarmed by the craft room disasters portion of my blog post title. It's allllll good and crisis averted. Side note: did you know that plastic backed glitter paper will melt and burn when heat embossed? Hm. Ask me how I know. Yikes.

Today the Girl Fridays are showcasing Sleigh Bells and Bell Tag Fri-Dies as part of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps release week.  I love this set and coordinating dies. They are a great size for making tags, they have lots of open space to get technique-y with, they are perfect for paper piecing and the font in the set? LOVE it. I like that the sentiments are small and cute so I can squeeze them in where I want.

I kept my card simple to show off the glittery aspects of the card. I die cut the bells from glitter paper and heat embossed them. Twice. The first time they melted and almost set on fire. The second time I took my time and slowly and carefully heat embossed them and thankfully didn't burn the house down. The rest is pretty self-explanatory.

Head on over the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog in case you haven't already been there today and see what the others came up with using Sleigh Bells and Bell Tag Fri-Dies.  These release week products are available on Saturday in the store

Have a great day!

Welcome to Day 4 of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps September release! Today the Girl Fridays are showcasing Pinecones. I love this set. Again the font in this one is so lovely. It seems to be perfect for masculine cards but don't let that stop you from inking them up in a really feminine way!

I cut masks from the bough and the cones and used them to create the look of pine cones hanging from the tree branch.  The wood grain patterned paper was light enough that I could stamp my images and the lovely verse right on on it. I rounded the corners, added some pearls (boy oh boy did I ever go on a pearl buying spree a few years ago...I have sooooo many!) and was done!

I hope you'll head on over the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog to see what the rest of the team came up with. Don't forget if you leave a comment there you have a chance at winning a fun prize!  Pinecones will be available in the store on Saturday.

CAS-ual Fridays- Must Love Snowflakes

I'm back for Day 3 of sneak peeks of the newest release for CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.  Today we're showing Must Love Snowflakes and it the perfect set for creating wintery backgrounds and the sentiments are gorgeous! I love the font.

I stamped and embossed the snowflakes in white on watercolor paper and used my Peerless Watercolor papers for the bright pink and red background. A few splotches of water flicked on almost makes it look like a real snowy day (welllllll....it would if air was hot pink. Which would be cool. Use your imagination people!). Some sequins, a stamped sentiment, sparkly thread, jaunty angles...done! :)

Pop on over to the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog to see what the rest of the team has come up with and leave a comment over there for a chance to win a fun prize!

I'm linking this card up to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge which is Rock the Techniques. I created my panel using the heat emboss resist technique!

Day 2 CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Sneak Peeks

Happy Day 2 of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps September sneak peek week! Today I'm showing you Snowflake Splendor. Aren't those trees fabulous??

After stamping and embossing my first tree, I created a mask for it and stamped and embossed the remaining trees one at a time.  Then I finished off with a super sparkly silver embossing powder for the stars, the sentiment and the strip along the bottom. All of this right on the patterned paper!  A one layer card that will mail quite easily.

Don't forget to check out what the rest of the Girl Fridays created and leave a comment over there for chance to win a great prize!

CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Sneak Peek BEGIN!

I'm excited to be participating in my first sneak peeks week and product release with CAS-ual Fridays Stamps!  Today marks the beginning of the sneak peeks and we're showing you Wheat Wreath. It's a perfect set for Thanksgiving cards or to show your gratitude in general.

I embossed the wreath and created a splattered background around it. The sentiment I stamped on a die cut circle and popped up with foam tape. So perfect for autumn and the Thanksgiving season.

Head on over to the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog to see what the other Girl Fridays have come up!
Thanks for stopping in and have a great day.

Runway Inspired #67

Hellllooooo everyone! I'm here today with a card heavy on patterned paper! I have a stash a mile high of 6x6 paper pads that just don't get enough love so I'm always looking for ways to use it up. Runway Inspired #67 challenge was the perfect way to do that.

I pulled out some fun Simple Stories paper that I thought closely resembled the outfit above and paired with a die cut sentiment from Avery Elle that I covered in Glossy Accents. A few sequins as accents and done! It's very sleek and chic just like the outfit. :)

Since patterned paper was on my mind with this card I figured it was the perfect creation to also link up to Virginia's View Challenge #7 which is featuring patterned paper. Perfect!

Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!

CAS-ual Fridays Stamps- Exclamations

Yeah! Happy Monday to you! Today I am excited to show you my first project as a member of the Ink Squad for CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.  Pop on over to have a look at my card there as well!

I used Exclamations in a basic, but effective way.  The bold sentiment repeatedly stamped in black really pops against that colourful watercoloured background.
