I love a good stamp set that makes it easy to send out fun cards to all my friends...for no reason at all.
The new Amazing and Doubly Amazing products from My Favorite Things are perfect for that.

I used the current Color Challenge on the MFT Card Challenges blog for my inspiration. Some of the colour combinations are ones that I would never think to put together but they really do work well together!

Thanks for stopping in today. Have a safe and happy New Year!

2015 Cardmaking Favourites

I've been doing a 'favourites' post for a few years now and I love looking back on all the cardmaking fun I had all year. You can check out previous years posts here and here.

2015 was a fun year for me! I worked with Butterfly Reflections, Ink for a few months as a designer, and still happily guest design occasionally for Vanessa. I joined the Waffle Flower Crafts Challenge blog team and am having loads of fun sharing my creations there.

As in past years, I tried to pick one card from each month. In no particular order...

Are any of these YOUR favourites of mine? If not, what did you like? Thanks for sticking with me through 2015! I'm looking forward to a crafty 2016. :)

Rainbow Christmas

Non-traditional colours for Christmas cards are still playing a big role in my crafting this holiday season. This one in particular is very rainbow-ish. I love how bold and fun it is.

I used my Zig markers to watercolour a strip, and once dry stamped the larger tree from the Simon Says Stamp Christmas Graphic set over top. I adhered that to a card base that had a tone on tone stamped background using My Favorite Things Myriad Dot background and Blu Raspberry ink. The sentiment from the same Christmas Graphic set was heat embossed using white powder on black cardstock.

I'm playing along with Color Throwdown #373 which is any Christmas creation, any colours! Easy peasy!
Thanks for stopping in and have a great weekend!

2015 Winter/Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! I need at least two cups of it, preferably before 9 a.m., or I'm a grizzly bear. My children know "no talkie before coffee" in this house. :)

Mittens & Mugs by Concord & 9th was perfect for my coffee-themed holiday card. I watercoloured my white panel with Zig markers and once dry, stamped the images and sentiment in black. There is a bit of sparkle here and there from Stickles. For a little added interest, I cut the white panel diagonally, and added some stencilling to the dark grey card base.

You can check out more fantastic coffee/tea/hot cocoa themed cards over at the 2015 Winter/Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop main post. Be sure to play along for prizes! :)

Waffle Flower Crafts December Challenge- Stamp Layering

Welcome back for some more inspiration for the current Waffle Flower Challenge. We're focusing on stamp layering this month and there are so many possibilities!

I started with the Good Stuff stamp set because why do so much work layering stamps when a perfectly designed set does it for you?! :)

I stamped the jar, lid, filler, label and the sentiment on a white Surface- Tag die, then stamped a few little stars in grey ink from the Starry Night stamp set. Some swirls and the "magic' cut from black cardstock really stand out against the rest of the card. A quick snip of scissors was all it took to change that lovely 'magical' word die to 'magic' instead. The jar and its contents are covered in clear Spica glitter (hard to photograph!) and the red star is from a piece of glitter paper. It all adds to the 'magic' of the card. :) Everything is adhered to a neutral card base so all the elements really shine!

I followed the fantastic sketch for my inspiration. No big deal substituting the circle for another shape.

Head on over to the blog today to check out what the other DT members came up with using the technique this month. You can play along by linking your creation up here. The focus is stamp layering, but the sketch and inspiration picture are fun too!

Thanks for stopping in and have a great day.

CTS- 151

We're finally getting into the Christmas spirit around here and put up our tree on the weekend. I love putting on the ornaments and remembering where each one came from...such happy memories.

I also had some time to play in CAS(E) this Sketch # 151. It's a super fun sketch!

I turned my card horizontal and used a My Favorite Things Jumbo Dot Cover-Up die for the circles. The panel behind the circles was watercoloured using Zig markers.  The fun sentiment is from Hero Arts...and the last time I linked up to CTS I used the same sentiment lol!! I must love it. :)

Glitter and Gold

Nothing makes me happier than getting out the glitter; it doesn't matter whether it's for cardmaking purposes or as part of my general fashion sense. I don't think any of my friends are ever surprised to see me wearing something sparkly and bold. :)

This card fits right into my general style. If I could wear it I would lol!!

First I experimented with foiling that gorgeous Doily Circle stamp from Waffle Flower Crafts in gold. I think my embossing powder might not be quite fine enough, and I can't wait to try it again using bonding powder instead. I added some shimmery splotches of gold spray and heat set it. The 'love' sentiment comes from a Freckled Fawn wood veneer that said 'lovely'. I just snipped the end of the word off, covered it in gold ink, then heat embossed with a Metallic Gold Sparkle powder. It is SO sparkly in real life.

I can't find this card anywhere in my stash now so it's possible that my daughter stole it. :) She's like a crow...attracted to shiny things. I might know where she gets that trait from...

I worked with the Color Throwdown challenge for my inspiration, and made sure it was super glittery so I could join in on the fun at Virginia's View as well!

Thanks for stopping in today, and I hope the rest of your weekend is fabulous!

Blue Christmas

Happy Monday everyone! It's a lovely, crisp and frosty day here and I'm warm inside with my coffee. We had such a fun weekend but it's nice to enjoy the peace and quiet now that the kids have headed off to school for the day. Now I have time to get crafty!

This fabulous stamp from Lil' Inker Designs is one of my favourites this holiday season. I used my MISTI and stamped out a bunch of the Oh Deer Christmas image using Versamark ink, then clear embossed them. Using my MINC machine, I foiled them with some gorgeous opal foil, then stamped the sentiment. It's popped up with foam tape on the card base. I used Simon Says Stamp woodgrain cardstock, but another option is embossing the cardstock with the Stitched Woodgrain die from Lil' Inkers.

The Fusion Challenge Blue Christmas photo was my inspiration. I love shades of aqua and teal for Christmas time! Non-traditional but so pretty. :)

25 Day of Christmas Tags with Waffle Flower Crafts

I'm joining in on The 25 Days of Christmas Tags fun with Waffle Flower Crafts today. Tracey McNeely does such a great job organizing this month long event. Head on over to her blog to see all the amazing tags created since Day 1 of this year's series.

I started my tag off by die-cutting some lovely gold foiled paper with the Surface Tag Die- Starter Kit. Then I cut the stocking and rest of the accessories using the Stocking Die. That red glittery stocking is just too fun! I wish mine looked like that. :) The coordinating Stocking Stamp set was used for the sentiment. Maybe you noticed that the sentiment doesn't QUITE look like that when it comes in the package... Well, a little snip of my scissors cut it perfectly so I could stamp it the way I wanted. Final touches are a messy gold thread 'nest', a pretty pearl and some twine so it can be tied on to a gift.

Thanks for stopping in today, and don't forget to check out ALL the tags on Tracey's blog today and leave her a comment! There are prizes to be won!

No, YOU'RE awesome!

Happy Monday everyone! I had a craft vendor sale on the weekend that I sold my cards at and it was fabulous! I love getting out into the community and sharing my craftiness with others. The visiting with friends, family and neighbours part wasn't too bad either. :)

I'm playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch this week and created this clean and simple card for it. Happy 150th sketch to them- that's amazing! The patterned paper gives this card the 'prettiness' factor along with the bling. :) I interpreted the three images under the sentiment as a row of sequins for my creation.  That Hero Arts rubber stamp sentiment is one of my favourites. I paired it on this card with their ombre ink

Happy cardmaking to you all! Enjoy your day.

Warmest Winter Wishes

Do you have any holiday colour schemes that are inspiring you this season? For me, it's gorgeous shades of blue paired with sparkle. I have three cards today to show you using that colour palette!

For this first card I white heat embossed my tree and snowflakes on watercolour cardstock, then used my Zig Clean Color markers to created the background over top. To bring some texture into the card, stitched dies from My Favorite Things were used for the snowbanks and the tag holding the sentiment. For even more fun texture and some serious sparkle, the snowbanks were coated with clear glitter. A few sequins finish it off. I just LOVE how this turned out!

I'm entering this card (just in time!) to Virginia's View Challenge #20- All About Textures, and to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge- Christmas.

My next two cards follow similar steps. Heat emboss with white, watercolour over top, add sentiment and voila! Done. Easy peasy. :)

Can you tell I love these colours? What colours are inspiring YOU in your creations lately?
Thanks for stopping in and have a fantastic day.

Waffle Flower Challenge- Masking

Waffle Flower Crafts is using MASKING as their fun technique this month.

What is the Waffle Flower Challenge? Each month, we host a featured technique challenge on the Waffle Flower Blog. Challenge starts on 1st and ends on 25th of each month. Check back on the Mondays for inspiration from the Challenge DT (That's why you're here, right?!). If you'd like to play along, don't forget to link up your creation HERE.

Check out my card using the masking technique!

I decided to create an island scene using the positive and negative pieces of masking paper, AND using masking fluid. Both worked perfectly for this creation. I used a generic circle die to cut out a piece of masking paper and centred the negative piece on my watercolour cardstock panel first. From there I created my scene, using more masking paper paired with the Tiger & Lily stamps and dies to help with the process. Once the stamped elements were all watercoloured, I carefully hand-painted a sun then covered it with masking fluid. Once dry, I painted blue sky all around and added a few flicks of ink to it. I covered it all with the POSITIVE part of the circle mask, and carefully watercoloured the rest of the panel a bright blue. Sounds complicated, but once I had it worked out in my head it went quickly. :)

Don't forget to head over to the Waffle Flower blog to see the other creations using masking from my fabulous teammates. They rock!

Guest Designer- Butterfly Reflections, Ink

I have a trio of Christmas cards over on the Butterfly Reflections, Ink blog today and I'd LOVE if you popped over there and checked them all out!

Happy Sunday to you all!

Fall themed challenges seem to be popular these past few weeks in blogland. I struggle with these autumn-like inspirations because the colour palette isn't my usual go-to spectrum.  I CAN however make a thank you card! I'm thankful everyday for all the wonderful blessings in my life. :)

The gorgeous Botanical Bunch stamp set by WPlus9 paired with the Hand-Lettered Thanks die takes centre stage on this creation. I coloured the florals with Copic markers and fussy cut it before adhering to the patterned paper with foam adhesive. Easy peasy.

I'm linking up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge which is THANKS/THANKSGIVING.

I'm also playing along in The Card Concept #43. I chose to work with the Clean and Layered style.

Thanks for stopping in today! Have a wonderful day. :)

Painted Poppies

Happy Sunday to you all. I hope your day is as sunny and warm as mine is. The weather today is so glorious that it makes me ask, "Is this really November?!"

I used the Simon Says Stamp Tattered Poppy die as my focal point for this simple sympathy card. Using Gansai Tambi watercolours I made a quick painted ombre background then used the same paints for the poppy and all its parts. A bold black sentiment finishes it off.

I played along with the Fusion: Purple & Poppies challenge. There's no purple, but I used the poppies in the picture for my inspiration. Thanks for stopping in today and have a GREAT day.

Runway Inspired- Hougton Bridal

White on white seems so elegant for a wedding card. I have a lot of elements on this card, but I'm hoping they all seem to work together!

First we have a subtle stamped background in a light grey ink, followed by die cut vellum. That gorgeous Memory Box die cut was lightly sponged with the same grey ink and adhered to the vellum. Finally, the sentiment die cut and heat embossed with sparkly powder.  I love how this turned out!

I'm playing along with the latest Runway Inspired Challenge #94. I tried to mimic that light, airy feel that the dress in the picture gives off.

Have a great Sunday everyone!
