Pretty bright bird

I tried out a new product (to me) on my card today and WOW did I ever have fun! Nuance pigment powders made by Magenta are a similar product to the Ken Oliver Color Burst powders. DO NOT wear a nice white blouse while using them. Just sayin'.

I sprinkled the colours one at a time on my watercolor cardstock and spritzed them with a water and Perfect Pearls solution, letting it dry between colours.  Then I heat embossed both the bird and the sentiment over top of the background.

I'm playing along with the Fusion challenge this week. I used the photo for inspiration, taking in the bright, peacock colours and the bird itself.

Thanks for stopping in today! Have a GREAT day!

Carried Away

I'm playing catch up with some of my fun homework from the recent Online Card Classes Watercolor for Cardmakers class.  After making some cute panels with various kinds of watercolour mediums, I've been putting cards together using them.

This card uses bright and cheerful hues of Distress Inks watercoloured onto the panel with some water splotches dripped over top. Then I stamped a cute scene from the Wplus9 Going Places and Unforgettable stamp sets. A touch of colouring with Copic markers and sequins finish it off.

Thanks for stopping in today!

Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Coffee + my favourite season? For sure! I'm playing along with the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and I found THE BEST sentiment stamp for my card today.

Riley and Company make the funniest sentiments and this coffee themed stamp begged to be used. I can't believe I don't own a stamp set that includes an actual coffee or tea mug. That needs to be rectified. :)

I kept my patterned papers dark and fall-ish to fit the theme. The sentiment was embossed on vellum, and that brad is ANCIENT. Proof you should never throw anything away (yeah right!).

Thanks for stopping in today, and enjoy all the other coffee cards on the hop.

Color Throwdown #361

I'm thrilled to be the guest designer today for Color Throwdown #361

I love the fresh, bright, cheerfulness of this colour combination. The inspiration picture paired with the colors inspired me to reach for my Sketched Roses background stamp by Impression Obsession

I stamped the background in black pigment ink and heat embossed in clear. Using just one Copic marker, I coloured in bits of the flowers, then adhered the panel to a yellow card base. The sentiment is from Best Hugs by Simon Says Stamp. A large vellum circle softens the brightness of the background a bit, and a few sequins finish off the card.

Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope you will head over to Color Throwdown, take a look at what the rest of the team came up with, and play along with us this week!

Amazingly colourful

I have a colourful and fun card to share today.  Die-cuts that cover the entire front panel of an A2 card are my new favourite cardmaking go-to. There are so many ways to use them besides the obvious. This Die-namics Proof Positive is one of my absolute favourites!

I used it here by trimming it down slightly and leaving some of the pieces intact. Underneath, peeking through is a panel I watercoloured using Zig Clean Color markers. For a bold, eye-catching sentiment I heat embossed Bold Statements in sparkly silver, then adhered it using foam tape.

Here's a look straight on without some of the glare (anything with sparkle seems so hard to photograph!). This card already made itself through the mail to my crafty friend Sarah. :)

I'm entering this in the MFT Card Design Superstar Contest. Good luck to everyone!

Minty blessings

Mint and gold. *Sigh* So gorgeous. I LOVE the current challenge for Little Tangles and played along using one of my favourite stamp sets, So Very Blessed

I stamped and heat embossed the image in gold on vellum and used Kool Tak clear foam tape to adhere it over the patterned paper card base. A few gold sequins and some pink pearls finish it off.

This card already went to my neighbours who are fabulous. They let us swim in their pool all summer which was MUCH appreciated considering all the hot and humid days we had.

Hello Fall

I'm playing along with Avery Elle's Non-White Card Base challenge. Woah. Who knew that would be so hard for me? I do LOOOOVE my white card bases. :)

Since the air is cooler and crisper here finally, I went for a fall-ish look on this one.  Texture Tiles Be Cute  help with an orange tone on tone polka-dot background.  The Hello Elle-ments Die with the floral swag underneath (from Oh Happy Day) makes the focal point. I added Wink of Stella glitter and Glossy Accents to the die for some real sparkle and shine!

Thanks for popping in today and have a great day!

Saturday craftiness

The kiddos are back to school which means I have loads of time for cardmaking.  It also means I have loads of time for housework, meal prep and other errands, but those just are NOT as much fun. :)

I played along with Color Throwdown this week, as well as CAS(E) this Sketch 140. It's a lovely colour combination although my apricot colour comes across as more pink on screen. Isn't that sketch one you could go-to again and again? Love it.

Thanks for stopping in today and enjoy your Saturday!

Butterfly Reflections, Ink feature

I'm up today on the Butterfly Reflections, Ink blog with two fun cards using the September Mood Board.  Don't forget about their sale through Monday, September 7!

I'm entering this card in the My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar contest.

I used the Star Celebration Background stamp in white pigment ink and heat embossed with clear sparkly powder, and a sentiment from the Brushstroke Birthday set for the sparkly embossed sentiment.

New baby

With new babies appearing here, there, and everywhere in our area I need to stock up on my baby cards. I followed along with CAS(E) this Sketch #138 this week and created a shaker card.

After inking up a white cardstock panel with my favourite pink ink, I die cut the largest star from CAS-ual Fridays Stars Fri-Dies. I stamped my sentiment on the panel before I started to make it into a shaker card. Those fun sequins are a mix from my stash from Butterfly Reflections, Ink.  The
'congrats' die cut from silver cardstock helps tie the sentiment into some of the silver sequins.

SPEAKING of new babies...last Thursday I became an aunt again to another nephew. :) We are smitten with him already. I had a few snuggles with him and can't wait for more.

Fabulous Flamingos

How have I owned this amazing Tickled Pink and coordinating Flamingo Die-namics set by My Favorite Things for WEEKS and WEEKS, and only just used it now?! CRAZY, I tell ya.

After experimenting around with my Zig Clean Color markers and making this fun watercolor background, I knew it would be perfect to use in this week's MFT sketch challenge. An A2 size card worked better for my layout, rather than the square one as shown in the sketch below.

I used my Rectangle Frames for the white border around the watercolor panel and stamped my sentiment within it. The flamingo was coloured with the Clean Color makers, as was the red heart. Blue flamingo? Sure, why not. Some Stickles make the heart super sparkly and fun!

Thanks for stopping in! Have a great day!
