Inspired by All the Little Things #17

Happy Saturday to you all! Welcome back for another gorgeous inspiration for the Inspired by All the Little Things challenge. This week's picture conjured up get well wishes. I used that theme and the approximate colours of the picture for my starting point.

Using Zig Clean Color markers and the Peonies on Parade Watercolor paper from Papertrey Ink, I watercoloured my flowers and once dry added a few splatters of green ink. A bold sentiment from WPlus9 and curved die cut bottom edge finish it off.  I made a few more of these to keep in my stash; always helpful when you need to pop a quick get well message into the mail!

Check out the rest of the team's fabulous creations, and play along with us! Have a great day!

Create Together with Julia Stainton

Julia Stainton and I are collaborating this week with the dreamiest of inspiration photos. Seriously...sooooo pretty. As soon as Julia sent me the photo, this stamp set by Unity Stamp Co. came to mind.

Soft and dreamy is what came to mind, along with texture and some sort of ribbon/twine treatment. I find what immediately comes to mind when I see an inspiration picture is what I usually end up creating with. Even if I come up with more ideas after, it seems to be the initial thoughts that I come back to.

After embossing the Dream Capture image in Rose Gold, I created a watercolour background over top in multiple colours. It gave me the exact kind of background I has hoping for...LOVE when that happens! Roughed up edges, wood veneer stars and a pretty sentiment make it all stand out beautifully against a subtle patterned paper background. A simple piece of twine tied in a bow finishes it off.

Head on over to Julia's blog Belle Papier to see the gorgeousness she came up with using that lovely inspiration picture. It is always so much fun for me when I get to collaborate with other cardmaking friends. Thanks so much Julia for creating with me this week!

My Sunshine- Work it Wednesday

I'm popping in quickly today to share a card I made for CAS(E) this Sketch 173. I love the cluster of the geometric shapes and used my own version of them instead of sticking with triangles as shown.

This turned out so cheerful! The patterned paper makes it look more involved than it really is. Since Simon Says Stamp is hosting their Work It Wednesday today, and the theme this month is SUNSHINE, I figured substituting a sun-ray for the triangles worked perfectly. :)

Thanks so much for stopping in today! It is already hot and steamy outside (we seemed to have skipped springtime completely!) and I'm glad both these challenges worked together to celebrate this great weather.

Inspired by All the Little Things #16

Happy Saturday! It's a holiday weekend here in Ontario with Monday being Victoria Day. That means fun in the sun for three whole days and hopefully some long-awaited gardening!

I oooooo-ed and ahhhhh-ed over this inspiration picture for Inspired by All the Little Things #16. The colours and the appearance of texture really stood out to me.

To bring in the colours and the texture, I began by dragging Maliblue and Island Blue inks across the card front. This gave me the streaky linear look I was hoping for...and it only took me three tries! :) Originally I had the black cardstock strip and the silver sentiment against the background on their own, but it was just too plain. The Lacy Flower die cut from white cardstock was the perfect piece to set off the sentiment. A few silver sequins finish it off.

Be sure to check out the rest of the design team's fabulous creations and play along yourself! I can't wait to see what you create. Have a fabulous weekend.

Sunshine in my heart

I have a clean and simple card today that plays along with the Card Concept challenge this week.

Does anyone else start singing that beautiful little "You are My Sunshine" song to themselves when they see that inspiration photo? I bet I'm not the only one. :)

One layer cards are my favourite kind to mail out to friends, and I work hard to make sure they have the right amount of CAS (clean and simple) but don't underwhelm at the same time.

For this creation I started by blending Lemon Chiffon and Sunkist inks right on the card base. I heat embossed the sunrise from Sunbeams (my favourite set by CAS-ual Fridays Stamps!) in gold. The sentiment is stamped right underneath and I thought it worked perfectly with both the inspiration and the golden sun. :)

Thanks for stopping in today! Enjoy your Wednesday!

Curtain Call- Birdhouses

I'm thrilled to be the guest designer this week for Curtain Call challenge!

Isn't that just divine? Our yard is full of birdhouses, and I'm always on the hunt for more.  The gorgeous florals and the scalloped edges were the starting point for my card.

I used the Color Pop Florals kit by Papertrey Ink and my favourite dye inks for my floral background. After stencilling and stamping the flowers, I used a Copic marker to colour in around them. Some polka dot patterned paper and a fabulous sentiment from Simon Says Stamp bring in more of the inspiration photo. I finished it off with a scalloped frame and some clear sequins.

Thanks so much for joining me today and I hope you'll head on over to the Curtain Call challenge blog to see the rest of the amazing creations by the design team. Play along with us by linking your creation up over there!
Have a great day!

Inspired by All the Little Things #15

We have a bold and fun geometric inspiration photo for you this week on Inspired by All the Little Things

I used a retired Simon Says Stamp Chevron patterned cover plate die and pieced it with several colours of cardstock. I have SO many leftover pieces that I can make another card with! A vellum circle die cut highlights the 'hello' sentiment which was cut from black glitter paper. A few clear and silver sequins are scattered here and there oh so very casually. Not true. I agonized over their placement. ;)

Check out how the challenge works, and then play along with us! We can't wait to see what you create.

Create Together with Shona Chambers

Today I am collaborating with the lovely Shona Chambers from Twine Around.  Shona and I are on the Waffle Flower challenge team together and I absolutely love her CAS style. She makes great use of white space and can turn a simple design into a stunning masterpiece!
Gold and rainbow inlaid flowers? Gasp. Elegantly embossed flowers? So beautiful! A fun use of white space that isn't white at all? Love it. These are just a few of my favourites of Shona's.

Today we have a fun inspiration photo to work with for our creations. Yum! I looooove that rainbow row of cereal. We are Fruit Loop lovers around here. No shame in that.

I heat embossed multiple butterflies in a rainbow of colours from Paper Smooches Luminous Spring set. I snipped apart the sentiment from Delightful Greetings, rearranged it a little, and heat embossed it in a sparkly silver. Sequins in coordinating colours are scattered along with the butterflies. Because sequins. And butterflies. They just GO together!

Thanks so much for stopping in today!! Please head on over to Shona's blog to see what colourful creation she came up with today. I'm so glad Shona could create with me today; cardmaking with friends is way more fun. :) I'm also playing along with the Paper Smooches May challenge which has a fabulous rainbow-y inspiration photo.

Stencil it!

I had an absolutely peaceful and relaxing Mother's Day this past weekend and took the time to make a few cards. It was exactly what I wanted to do on my special day. :)

It had been awhile since I had played with my stencils, so I pulled out a pretty floral one from My Favorite Things (Spring Flowers, now retired) and blended white pigment ink through it on a kraft panel. Once the pigment ink had dried, I sponged dye inks through it over top in an ombre fashion. A white stitched scalloped circle die cut adds a pop of brightness along with the stamped sentiment. Everything was glued to a black card base with some glitter along the edge.

I'm playing along in this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge which is to use stencils. Have a great day everyone! Thanks for stopping in.

Waffle Flower Crafts May challenge

The May photo inspiration for the Waffle Flower Challenge is just SO pretty. I love the colour combination and am pretty sure I need a gorgeous chair like that in my house!

I worked with the colours shown.  That sweet little bucket of umbrellas in the bottom corner caught my eye, and I knew I wanted to create a shower card because of it.

I stamped all my pieces from the Shower stamp set, and heat embossed the sentiment over top in Antique Gold. I die cut one of the flowers from the Lacy Flower Mats die set several times, cut them in half, and covered them in glitter. I adhered them to the top of the panel, popping up one with foam tape. The whole thing is adhered to a kraft card base.

Are you going to play along this month? I hope so! You can get all the details about how to play in our challenges at the main blog. Thanks for stopping in today and have a good one!

Inspired by All the Little Things #14

I love the inspiration photo for this week's Inspired by All the Little Things challenge. I had blue skies, puffy clouds and pops of red come to mind and used Avery Elle's Be A Unicorn set to get the look I wanted.

My daughter has claimed this card for her own and asked that I die cut her "one million" unicorns. Ummmm, ok. Maybe I'll teach her how to do that herself. :) Things to note about this card- lots of layers are popped up with foam tape, the sentiment was stamped in black and heat embossed with clear powder, and the colouring was done with Copics.

I hope you'll join us this week! Link up your creation using the inspiration picture over at the main blog

Create Together- May the Fourth be with you!

May the Fourth be with you! Picture courtesy of my 7 year old daughter. :)
I confess, I was never much of a Star Wars fan until my son became old enough to enjoy them. Now I will happily watch alongside him and my daughter and am really excited about all the new movies being made.

My friends today are cardmaking with me on a fun Create Together collaboration featuring Star Wars and/or all things outer space! Jessica Frost-Ballas from All That Sparkle and Miriam Prantner from Sooner rather than Later have joined me so please go check out their fabulous creations. Today I'm using the fabulous A Long Time Ago set by Neat & Tangled and I love these cards Jessica and Miriam have made in the past using the same set. *cough cough* Miriam DESIGNED this set. Oh yes she did. :)

After creating a panel by blending Distress Inks together, I flicked on some water and white spray mist, then die cut it using the Memory Box Starry Night background. Adhered behind it is sparkly silver paper, and it's popped up with foam tape on a white card base. The sentiment was heat embossed in white on black cardstock, trimmed and adhered using foam tape.

Thank you so much to Jessica and Miriam for joining me today! I love their styles. Cardmaking is more fun with friends, right? :) May the Fourth be with you!
