Canada Day Create Together

It's the last day of school for us here in Ontario and it can't come soon enough because Friday is Canada Day, our national holiday, and our family is ready to kick back and celebrate!

I'm joining forces with Bonnie Sharp today and we're creating with Canadian patriotism in mind for the latest Create Together installement.

The Canadian flag was my inspiration today. The stark red and white colour combo of our flag is pretty but makes it hard to create with, so I added some soft ink blending to the card base first with an aqua dye ink. I stamped the Star Celebration background in Lobster ink (my favourite red ink I've found so far!) over top. Falling Leaves Die-namics had the perfect maple leaf for my corner accent, while Finley's ABCs worked wonderfully for my sentiment.

Thanks to Bonnie for joining me today. I'm headed on over to her blog to check out what she came up with and I hope you will too!

Inspired by All the Little Things #21

Today's inspiration for the Inspired by All the Little Things challenge brings to mind a relaxing vacation where I can sip champagne in the sunshine with my sweetie, while looking at the sunny seas. :)
Makes me smile just thinking about it!

I thought the "Today is a good day to smile" sentiment from the latest Simon Says Stamp release suited the picture above perfectly. The pretty bouquet on the table made me want to stamp my own flowers. :)

I layered the flowers and leaves from Blooming Day in multiple inks and stamped the sentiment over top. A little bit of Diamond Stickles, a few sequins, and a cross-stitched die cut finish off the main panel. It's all adhered with foam adhesive to a patterned paper card base.

That's all for today! I hope you'll play along with us this week. Rules for the challenge can be found here. Just a heads up that this challenge will be closed for July and August to let all of you and us enjoy our summer vacations, but we'll happily be back in September!
Have a great day!

Camp Create in the (Tasty) Tropics

I've had my Flashy Florals card kit from My Favorite Things set aside for some time now waaaaiiiiiiting for me to get a chance to play with it. So glad I finally found some time!

I inked up the big background stamp in an ombre fashion using the inks included in the kit. I did some messy inking around the edges too. All the flowers and leaves were stamped and die cut using the supplies included in the kit. Using double-sided adhesive sheets I die cut, then added WOW glitter to my sentiment. A few sequins finish it off.

I created my fun card with the current Curtain Call challenge- Tasty Tropics in mind. The ink colours in the Flashy Florals kit suited this challenge perfectly!

I participated in Camp Create with My Favorite Things as well; you can't have a challenge highlighting glitter and not expect me to play along! :)
Thanks for stopping in today, and have a GREAT day.

Create Together with Rebecca Ednie

I'm back today with another Create Together collaboration with the fabulous Rebecca Ednie from Eclectic Endeavours. Rebecca is an Ontario based cardmaker like I am and I "met" her through this series! That's exactly what I had hoped for, to connect with and make more crafty friends. :) I loved searching through her blog and getting to know her style. This recent card of her is AMAZING. That's her own painting!! Clearly I'm drawn to her watercolouring because this card caught my eye too. Altered objects and home decor are right up her alley too- this canvas is so fun!

Monday was the first day of summer and Rebecca thought a summer and/or beach theme would be perfectly timed to create with this week. I can't wait to see what she came up with!

For my creation I used Distress Inks to create a blended beachy background, and spray mists to get the grainy look. The sentiment and stamps with coordinating dies are from the Ocean Dreams set by Simon Says Stamp. The little anchor was embossed fully in Antique Gold and has a little bit of twine tied around it. Sunny Skies Die-Namics blended with Lemon Chiffon dye ink behind created the sunshine. :)

Here's a close up that shows the gold anchor.

I'm usually not that adventurous in my cardmaking, so I love that I went outside my comfort zone with this card. It might not seem complicated to YOU but I thought hard about how I was going to execute my idea. The end result is what I hoped for. :)

Thanks so much to Rebecca from Eclectic Endeavours for joining me today! Her idea for a summer theme was perfect. Head on over to her blog and see what she came up with.
Have a great day!

Inspired by All the Little Things #20

Saturday means another Inspired by All the Little Things challenge and this one has me saying, "Say Cheese!" Seriously though. Why do people say that when they're taking a picture? That's just weird.

Today's inspiration made me immediately think of Papertrey Ink's Shutterbug Special stamp set which I do NOT own, but borrowed from my mom (thanks mom!).

I stamped the camera using my MISTI, and again with another darker colour of ink around the edges. I added Glossy Accents to a few parts of the image, and some Wink of Stella around all the white areas for some sparkle. Once it was all dry, I die cut it with a stitched rectangle frame and stamped my sentiment. Since the image takes up a lot of room on the panel I felt no other accents were needed. Sigh. *Puts the sequins away.*

Join us by creating your own card based off the inspiration photo, and linking it up HERE. Head on over to see what the rest of the team came up with! Have a great day.

Waffle Flower Crafts June challenge

I'm back today with a card created using the June Waffle Flower Crafts Challenge photo inspiration. On the 1st of every month, a new photo inspiration is launched and the design team are here to rock it each Monday following. Today myself, Shona, Daria, Patricia and our special guest Miriam have creations to show you.

After die-cutting several of the Chunky Chevrons from cardstock, I adhered them to a white cardstock panel. The Lacy Flower Mats and one of the larger Lacy Flowers dies make a perfect focal piece for this card, and along with a gold heat embossed sentiment (from Succulents) help to soften up the hard lines from the chevrons in the background. A few scattered sequins finish it off, and the entire panel is adhered to a white card base using foam tape.

You have until June 25 to link your creation up at the main challenge post. You don't need to use Waffle Flower Crafts products to play along, but if you do you are eligible to win a prize! I hope you will play along with us. Can't wait to see what you create!

Inspired by All the Little Things #19

It's time for another Inspired by All the Little Things challenge!

Gorgeous!! I pulled out my watercolours and worked on an "outside the lines" approach.

I heat embossed the Beautiful Bouquets: Ranunculus image and used the ever-helpful MISTI to help me with it. I find black embossing powders to be so messy and don't always yield the results I want so I went another route.  Using the MISTI, I stamped the image with my favourite black ink, then again with Versamark and clear embossed it. VERY easy with that fab tool. Zig Clean Color markers were using for the watercolouring. The scripty font in Hand Lettered Thanks worked perfectly for my sentiment.

Next time I'm going to try even MESSIER watercolouring. Basically that's me just saying I'm a lazy painter and don't want to stay in the lines. :) Check out what the rest of the design team created and play along with us this week! Can't wait to see what you link up.

Inspired by All the Little Things #18

I knew instantly the direction I wanted to go with my card for this week's Inspired by All the Little Things challenge. The colours in that bouquet are amazing and the Floral Fusion Cover-Up die from My Favorite Things is perfect for piecing in all those bright and bold colours.

I cranked that Cover-Up die through my Big Shot repeatedly with various colours of cardstock, then pieced it all back together. The sentiment is from Hero Arts and that cute little heart is Simon Says Stamp. I love how bright the white cardstock looks against the colourful background.

Happy Saturday! Be sure to check out the rest of the design team and their amazing creations and play along with us! I can't wait to see what you create.

Petal power

I'm back today with a colourful floral card that was quick to create!

Papertrey Ink's Peonies on Parade panels (say that three times fast!) make CAS designs a breeze. All the work is done for you in the pre-printed design. Just add watercolor or colour with your medium of choice, add a sentiment, and BAM! Done. My Zig Clean Color markers did the hard part for me and I couldn't resist using the most colourful ones that I owned. Bright and bold or go home. :) I heat embossed the sentiment in black once the panel was fully dry.

I'm linking up to two fun challenges this week.
Addicted to CAS has the code word PETALS this week, and I hope it's clear where my petals are. :)

CASology is celebrating their 200th challenge. Congratulations to them!

Thanks to everyone for stopping in. Have a wonderful Thursday. I'm off to water my flowers because my flowery card has reminded me I need to do that desperately. I am NO green thumb.
