The Card Concept #126- Time to Celebrate

It's time for another The Card Concept challenge! I created my card based on the inspiration photo below. Is that sparkly and fun? I love New Year's Eve even though I'm usually asleep by midnight. :) This girl can't party like she used

My classy and elegant card features a LOT of sparkle and shine just like the photo above. Sometimes I ask myself, "Marcie, do you NEED all these glittery, sparkly, shimmery papers in all the shades of silver and gold?" Yes. I do.

To make this card, I die cut a bunch of the Eucalyptus Leaves from Simon Says Stamp from various papers and adhered them to a black A2 card base. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on gold shimmer paper and popped it up with foam tape over top of the leaves. I have never had great luck with black embossing powder so my trick is to just stamp in Versafine Onyx Black (a pigment ink) and clear emboss over top, or in this case use a glittery embossing powder. Even though it's a simple card to put together it screams elegance with all that silver and gold.

Head on over to The Card Concept blog to see how the rest of the team was inspired and what styles they used on their cards. Play along with us using any of the styles we highlight...I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Stamps: Greetings Mix 1 (Simon Says Stamp)
Ink: (Versafine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies: Eucalyptus Leaves (Simon Says Stamp)
Paper: Black, silver sparkle (Simon Says Stamp); matte gold, gold mirror (Papertrey Ink); black sparkle (misc.); gold sparkle (DCWV); silver mirror (My Favorite Things)
Other: Clear sparkle embossing powder (WOW); foam tape

  1. I love all the sparkle and shimmer against the black background! Gorgeous take on this week's inspiration photo!
