The Card Concept #138a- Tropical Treats

It's time for another The Card Concept challenge! We are so excited to announce that we will be continuing our bi-weekly challenge with a few of our Designers for the summer!
We normally take a break at the end of June to give our Team the summer off, but this year several of our Designers wanted to keep the fun going all summer long.

Here's a refresher if you haven't played with us in awhile- every two weeks we will post our inspiration photo challenge and hope that you will join us by creating a card for our challenge gallery (found on The Card Concept blog). An inspiration photo is exactly that- a starting point for inspiration. Will it be the colors, the overall theme, the texture, the actual items or something else that will inspire your card?  Choose a design style (or combine styles), create a card, and in your blog post, in addition to letting us know what inspired you from the photo, please let us know what style and/or styles you chose.

I created my card today based on the inspiration photo below. This is pure summer to me! There's just so much to love about this picture and lots to work with...I love the tropical foliage, the pops of black, and of course the flamingo!

Using all the elements that I mentioned above, I made this clean and layered card. I think it has a touch of classy and elegant too. Don't forget you can mix and match your styles when you create a card for our challenge!

I love digging through my stash of 6x6 pads and just knowing I have a piece or two of patterned paper in there somewhere that will work. When I found the Oasis pad by Crate Paper I cut it up and glued what I needed to an A2 white card base. I die cut the Botanical Frame from aqua cardstock and glued it to the pattered paper, and then used foam tape to adhere it to the base. The flamingo was die cut from watercolor paper and I used my Zig Clean Color markers to colour it. Once dry, I glued it to the card and added the die cut and embossed sentiment. Some sequins and a few black paint flecks finish it off.

Head on over to The Card Concept blog to see how the rest of the team was inspired and what styles they used on their cards. Play along with us using any of the styles we highlight...I can't wait to see what you come up with!
