The Card Concept #140- Fanciful Fall

It's time for another The Card Concept challenge! I created my card based on the inspiration photo below. As soon as I saw this picture I knew exactly what I wanted to create. I love when that happens!

The overall design of the photo is where I drew my inspiration from. It seems playful and colourful and elegant all at once. My card is what I would call clean and layered with a bit of mixed media thrown in.

I started off by adhering the Tumbling Leaves stencil to a piece of white cardstock using Pixie Spray. Using a variety of dye inks, I masked off areas and blended ink onto the cardstock. After I had all the colours where I wanted them I used LOTS of other stencils to layer more ink through the Tumbling Leaves stencil to get the patterns I wanted on each leaf. Some of them I left blank so I could add hand drawn accents to after. Using Gina K Glitz Glitter gel in Iridescent and a thin spatula, I added seriously awesome sparkle to some of the leaves. Once that glitter was dry, I removed the stencil and added lines and dots using a white gel pen and a brown marker.

The finished panel was trimmed to fit onto a white A2 card base with a large border around the edges. I hated trimming off some of the pretty patterns, but it just looked nicer with a smaller canvas. For my sentiment I heat embossed one of my favourites from the Hexagon Greetings set by Simon Says Stamp using white powder on dark brown cardstock. It was trimmed and adhered to the panel using foam tape. I think this is the first time in ages I haven't added clear sequins to a card!

Head on over to The Card Concept blog to see how the rest of the team was inspired and what styles they used on their cards. Play along with us using any of the styles we highlight...I can't wait to see what you come up with!

  1. Marcie, I was looking at this wondering what your process was to get that artfully layered result. And now I'm even more impressed by all the masking and layering involved in this lovely make!
