The Card Concept #151- Butterfly Brilliance

It's time for another The Card Concept challenge! I created my card based on the inspiration photo below. This week I knew exactly how I wanted to make my card for this beautiful challenge! It's always fun stretching my imagination to come up with an idea to go with an inspiration photo, but I REALLY like when they just jump out at me.

My card this week is a clean and layered/mixed media creation that was inspired by the multi-coloured butterfly. I knew I wanted a big and bold butterfly take centre stage with loads of bright colours.

I love playing around with alcohol inks and I knew I could create the look I wanted for this card with them using a fun technique I saw Jennifer McGuire use. Instead of YUPO paper (which is what I generally use for my alcohol ink substrate) she used a glittery specialty paper. I highly recommend this video if you like the looks of alcohol ink on glitter paper! After I followed her instructions to make my own glittery background, I trimmed my paper down and adhered it to a white A2 card base and then layered the Butterfly Cover-up over top. I find that double sided tape works better than liquid glue when adhering anything to glitter paper. The sentiment was stamped and trimmed and popped up using foam tape and I added a thin strip of glitter paper under it.

Head on over to The Card Concept blog to see how the rest of the team was inspired and what styles they used on their cards. Play along with us using any of the styles we highlight...I can't wait to see what you come up with! *Please, please, please be mindful of the challenge rules. Post the inspiration photo, link to the challenge and don't combine your card with another inspiration challenge. Unfortunately many beautiful cards are not eligible for winning our challenge because they don't meet the criteria.*
